Birthday and Getaway!

On November 11th, my little sister turned 21!! This is hard to believe. It was just yesterday that she was terrorizing me...oh wait...she still does that! Anyway, on Saturday, the 8th, I threw her a surprise birthday party! I invited as many of her friends as I could think of. I think the party went really well, and she was really surprised. The few hours leading up to her arrival was pretty hectic. Lots of things had to be done last minute and it was just me doing it, because mom had to occupy Kacyn. Luckily, a few of her friends arrived early and helped me finish up! Thank GOD for them! Kristen, Suni, Brittany, Katie, Lindsey, Kim and a few other family members (Blair's step-mom and Granny). Here are a few pics from the night...

On Sunday, Blair, James and I left for Cape Lookout for a few days. It was a very nice getaway. I have never stayed over there when it was cold, and it WAS cold...The wind blew quite hard! It was so nice however to bundle up and enjoy some quality time together. We fished a little, but didnt have any luck. We caught a flounder (which was too small, we had to put him back), a blow fish and a gar. What luck...we had nothing to show for fishing! Luckily, James' grandfather in-law came over and went net fishing on his boat. That was rather exciting watching them. The Pelicans just about took us over. They would sit at the back of the boat and try to grab the fish as the net would pull them out of the water. It was the most excitement I have had in a long time! :)

Here are a few pics from the weekend...

Monday was an absolutely BEAUTIFUL day...it started off kind of windy, but as the sun got up, the wind died out and it got pretty warm...well, maybe upper 60's...but the water was as slick as glass. IT was amazing. We went and picked Kacyn up Sunday night, but she had to go back Monday around lunch. She had to get to civilization to get the internet so she could turn a paper in. Here is a picture of Kacyn working on her paper at like 7 in the morning...we look kind of rough!

We relaxed all day Monday and Tuesday and left around lunch time on Tuesday. I am glad we left when we did because it took us 2 1/2 hours to get back to Harkers Island. The trip on the houseboat is usually an hour..but today, we were fighting the wind and the tide, both going against us. Anyway, it was a nice relaxing ride home, but we got a little dilusional!
Lastly, my mom has been down for the past few months, as I posted the other day. She has been doing better, thank GOD. On Thursday, however, she was having a problem breathing. She put it off all day, then decided to go to the doctor. There is no other way to say it, but GOD is the only reason she is still alive today. She had 2 blood clots to go through her heart and into her lungs! That is usually automatic death. She had a 6% chance to survive one blood clot, much less 2!! By the time we knew anything about it, it had already done what it was going to do and she was 'out of danger'...whatever THAT means!?? She still has one blood clot in her leg, but they are treating that and we pray nothing else comes from this. All I can say is THANK YOU LORD that she is still here with us! If you are reading this, please say a short prayer for her.

I will definitely be praying for your mom. She is one of the sweetest people I've ever met. Sounds like she is pretty much a living miracle! In addition, I wish I had a houseboat...looks like yall had so much fun!
