Engagement Anniversary!

Just a quick note before bed...Today is 2 years since Blair and I have been engaged. I cannot believe how time flies. I remember thinking he was never going to do it, and bam..it has been 2 years!

Every since I was a little girl, my favorite place to ride was to shell point so I could see the light house. I would sit there as a baby and just watch that light...when I was able to talk, I would always count it and say..here it comes, here it comes...then would get so excited to see the light racing across the water. To this day, it holds a special place in my heart.

It was Sunday, December 17th, 2006. I had been to Wilmington the night before for a friends wedding and was ready to stop driving and see Blair when I got back home. Well, I get to his house, only to realize he wasnt there. I was so mad...when I called him, he was at my parents house. I really wanted to stay in Beaufort that night, but he had other plans!

The next day was the Christmas parade, and that night was the Christmas program at Church. I had ALOT of stuff to do that night before bed. I was in charge of Christmas cheer that year for our homeroom and had a TON of presents to wrap by Monday morning. After church, Blair says he needs to go to his dad's. He begged me to go, so I went. We stayed there longer than I wanted and I was getting really anxious about getting home. So, finally, we left there. Blair then did not turn to go to my house. Instead, he went to Harkers Island. I was furious by then because I had hours of work ahead of me and it was already like 10!!

We get over there, he parks the truck and gets out. I was like WOAH....this isnt really happening. He timed it perfectly, so when he opened the door, he said...here it comes (refer back to the lighthouse) and he pulled out a ring and asked me to marry him! It took me a while to say yes because I just hugged him and was speechless. Obviously, I did say yes....

Now that it all plays out, he was at my parents house asking my dad if he could marry me. We HAD to go to his dads house that night because he wanted to show his dad the ring. I was so mad about it at the time...how foolish of me!

I did get the presents wrapped, thanks to mom and Kacyn (who by the way, knew nothing of the engagement...they were pretty mad! :)) Unfortunately, I must have had way too much excitement that night and was really sick the next day. I had my first ever migraine and was throwing up by the middle of 1st period, so I had to come home and go to bed! :)

Blair and I love each other very much and we waited a while to get married, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I think it makes our relationship more special.

Ok, it is really late and I have school tomorrow! One and a half days left till Christmas break!!!!! yay...then, we are in our new building right after Christmas. How exciting?!?

Good night...

Such a sweet proposal story! I was also very stressed out when Joel proposed. I was running the New Years Eve party at the Aquarium and I'd just got cussed out by big wig Aquarium people because the seating chart was messed up. So in the picture I took right after he proposed I look teary eyed not bc of what just happened but because earlier I was upset about them yelling at me! haha
