Working Mom

I am linking up with Kelly's Korner today for her working mom post.

I have 2 1/2 year old twin girls and I am a high school science teacher.  This is my 8th year teaching.
^My first day back teaching...Leaving these beauties at home!  8.25.11

Technically, I get to be a SAHM for 2 months and it is glorious!!!!  The problem with the small window of SAHM time, is I feel like I get nothing done.  I don't have a strict schedule.  Because it goes so fast, I just live by the moment.  We sleep in.  Lounge around.  Eat when we want.  Go play all day, etc.  If I was a full time SAHM, that would certainly not be the case.  We would have a routine.  We would have a schedule.  I WOULD get more done.

^seriously...those little heads...

I hate to put this out there, but I am going to be honest here.

I know being a SAHM is hard.  You get no break.  You don't interact much with adults.  There is a LOT that you are expected to do.  I get that.

HOWEVER.  Being a working mom is no joke.  Yes, we get a 'break' from our kids.  But, the same amount is expected out of us, as far as cooking, cleaning, etc. We have to get up early, be away from the most important things to us all day.  We miss out on a lot.  Then, we come home.  The kids want to be with us.  BUT, the clothes have to be washed.  Dinner must be cooked.  The never ending toy pickup/organization is screaming at us.  We have to pack bags for school.  Get gymnastics stuff ready, etc.  All a SAHM must do, just a LOT less time to do it in.

I hate hearing SAHM complain.  I know we all have it hard and life can be difficult.  But, some should be more thankful and stop whining.

**I know some do not choose to be a SAHM...I am not referring to those. I know some would rather be working and earning another income, but the job market stinks right now.  I am just fussing about certain (on my FB news feed) that CHOOSE to be a SAHM and want sympathy for it.

Rant over.

^Sillies going to visit their school for the first time.

Aside from teaching, I also love to craft.  I do not get nearly enough time to do it, but I enjoy it and think about it a lot.  My mother in law and I have a business.

I feel you sister!! I am a teacher/mom too and I find myself in a race when I walk in the door in the afternoons. There is so much to be done, but you want to spend time with your family. SAHM's can handle all these tasks during the day, but yes we are expected to do the same things as someone who is home more. Ok, enough ranting for me too!!

Love your post! Totally agree with your rant. I'm a teacher/ mom and it drives me nuts when SAHM complain about not getting time alone. Seriously?! Moms period never get time alone. Keep what you are doing!
